On April 22, Stockholm Free World Forum (Frivärld) and the Institute for International Security and Development Policy (ISDP) organized a roundtable discussion on “The New Axis of Disinformation.”
Over the past decade, Western societies have been subject to an increasing onslaught of disinformation conducted by Russia and increasingly China. Therefore, the ISDP report “The Convergence of Disinformation: Examining Russia and China’s Partnership in the Digital Age” (December 2024) explored how Russian and Chinese approaches and goals of disinformation both converge and differ.
Discussion focused on the implications for the free world when disinformation is proliferating, and the impact the Trump administration’s seeming reproduction of Russian narratives upon our shared transatlantic worldview—and views of democracy, truth, and our common future.
Speakers included Alexander Lange, Senior Executive Officer at Civil Rights Defenders, and report authors Johan Wiktorin, Co-Founder at INTIL Group & Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow, ISDP, and Marek Kohv, Head of Security and Resilience Program at International Center for Defense and Security (ICDS), Estonia.
The discussion was moderated by Patrik Oksanen, Resident Senior Fellow at Frivärld.
