Screening: Documentary on the Militarization of Ukrainian Children

On June 3, Frivärld supported a screening of the new investigative documentary “The War They Play” made by The Kyiv Independent’s on Russia’s militarization of Ukrainian children in occupied territories. The film exposes how children in occupied Ukraine are forced into Russian military youth movements, stripped of their identity, and prepared for war. The screening was organized by The Kyiv Independent in partnership with Nordic Ukraine Forum. 

After the screening, a panel discussion was held with the Kyiv Independent team consisting of Yevheniia Motorevska, Head of War Crimes Investigations Unit,  Olesia Bida, Reporter, War Crimes Investigations Unit; Author & Lead Producer of The War They Play,  and Anastasiia Mozghova, Executive Producer, War Crimes Investigations Unit. 

The discussion also featured Carina Ödebrink, Member of the Swedish Parliament (Socialdemokraterna) and OSCE PA Special Envoy on Russian Abductions and Deportations of Ukrainian Children.  

Anna Rennéus Guthrie, Director of Stockholm Free World Forum (Frivärld), served as the moderator.
