Webinar: A law for all seasons or for tomorrow’s digital markets?

In December 2020, the European Commission first presented the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which deals with platform companies, competition and the rules that govern digital markets. There seems to be a consensus that reforms are needed, but not so much regarding what problems should actually be solved. Is the DMA’s purpose primarily to regulate Big Tech, or is it rather to ensure that there is space for competition, innovation and entrepreneurship?

In a new report written for Stockholm Free World Forum, Joakim Wernberg tries to provide an alternative perspective on platform companies and what role they play in a digitalised economy. The report is updated so as to be as relevant as possible before the European Parliament votes on the Digital Markets Act during the session on December 13th-16th.

The webinar will be live streamed on Stockholm Free World Forum’s Facebook page on December 7th, 11am-12pm CET.

Participants:

Joakim Wernberg, Research Director at Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum.

Sara Övreby, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations at Google in Sweden.

The discussion will be moderated by Emanuel Örtengren, Acting Director of Stockholm Free World Forum.
