Gunnar Hökmark

Gunnar Hökmark is the chair of Stockholm Free World Forum (Frivärld) since December 2017. He was previously a Member of the European Parliament (2004–2019) and Vice-Chairman of the EPP Group (2007–2014), the largest group in the European Parliament. He has also served as Chairman of the Moderate Youth League (1979–1984), Head of Timbro Idea (1986–1991), Member of the Swedish Parliament (1982–2004), and Secretary General of the Moderate Party (1991–1999). In the European Parliament, he advocated for enlargement, research, recovery policies, and the need for economic reforms. Today, he works with issues regarding banking legislation, telecommunications, digitalization, and financial stability, as well as developments in the Balkans and Russia.
