China is becoming a world leader in an increasing amount of research areas, and issues arise when academic freedom in the West is confronted with the interests of the Chinese state. In this episode, Anna Rennéus Guthrie, director of Stockholm Free World Forum, and Patrik Oksanen, resident senior fellow, are in conversation with Erik Mo Welin, an analyst at the National China Knowledge Center at UI. Erik holds a Ph.D. in Sinology from Uppsala University. He has previously lived in China for a total of six years, where he worked as a translator and interned at the Swedish Embassy in Beijing.
