On September 21st SFWF arranged a round table discussion with Anna Wieslander, Director for Northern Europe of the Atlantic Council and Björn Fägersten, Senior Researcher and Program Director of the Institute of Foreign Policy led by Director of SFWF Katarina Tracz.
In order to strengthen the military capacity of Europe, 25 EU member-countries decided to participate in defense cooperation under PESCO (Permanent Structured Cooperation) in December 2017. However, many important questions remain unanswered. What is the overall goal of PESCO? How should PESCO relate to NATO? How should the next Swedish government position itself to facilitate increased European defense cooperation? These are a few of the key questions addressed during the discussion.
