On 17 September, Frivärld hosted a breakfast roundtable together with Brunswick Group in Stockholm on the upcoming US midterm elections and what they mean for the transatlantic relationship.
We were joined by Patti Solis Doyle and Lanhee J. Chen, Partners at Brunswick Group and co-leads of its Public Affairs, Policy and Regulatory practice in the USA, together with Frivärld’s Washington-based senior fellow Anders Åslund. Solis Doyle is a veteran Democratic strategist who managed Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and later served as chief of staff to the vice-presidential nominee on the Obama–Biden campaign. Chen is a longtime Republican policy adviser, formerly policy director for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign and a fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, bringing perspectives from both sides of the aisle to the discussion.
The conversation covered what to expect from the November elections, the issues likely to dominate the campaign, and how the outcome could shape the challenges and opportunities facing the US and Europe.
