Oscar Jonsson becomes the new acting Director of the Stockholm Free World Forum by the end of the year when current Director Katarina Tracz begins parental leave. Oscar Jonsson is a prominent Swedish security and defence policy commentator and thought leader currently teaching at the Swedish Defence University in Stockholm.
–We are both happy and proud that Oscar Jonsson will be stepping in as Deputy Director at the Stockholm Free World Forum. This means that our work will continue to impact the security and defense policy debate in Sweden while highlighting the importance of political stability and free trade. Oscar Jonssonis an expert on Russia and warfare and has just submitted his doctoral thesis on the Russian understanding of modern warfare at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London. He has previously held positions as a visiting researcher at University of California-Berkeley and worked at the swedish armed forces headquarters as an expert on hybrid warfare, Russian strategy and tactics as well as security political analysis. Jonsson has also previosly worked at the European Union Institute for Security Studies in Paris. He has a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies at Uppsala University and a MA in International Peace and Security from King’s College London. In recent years he has been active in the security policy debate as an expert commentator and freelance writer for major media outlets, magazines and think tanks.
