The experiences of election interference in the 2016 and 2020 elections have emphasized the importance of strengthening electoral processes to safeguard democratic integrity. As the 2024 elections approach, with increasing polarization and a volatile global security situation, robust preparedness against foreign influence is more critical than ever.
On October 28, American Dixie O’Donnell, Strategic Risk Manager at Google, and Swedish security expert Patrik Oksanen, resident senior fellow Stockholm Free World Forum, will hold a discussion on election preparedness for the US elections in November. The discussion will focus on information influence and the security challenges surrounding the elections.
The seminar will be moderated by Anna Rennéus Guthrie, director Stockholm Free World Forum.

Dixie O’Donnell is a political advisor with extensive experience supporting senior leaders and decision-makers globally. She currently works as Strategic Risk Manager at Google. She specializes in crisis management and political risk, drawing from her experiences at NATO and UN missions in Afghanistan and South Sudan. Currently, her interests lie in the geopolitical aspects of cyberspace and emerging technologies.
Patrik Oksanen is resident senior fellow at Stockholm Free World Forum. He is a widely published journalist, writer and opinionmaker in the fields of security and defence policy. In 2017, he was named the Opinion Writer of the Year by Dagens Opinion and in 2018 the Journalist of the Year by Dagens Media. His book Skarpa Skärvor explores the threat that information warfare poses to open society.
