The Many Faces of Russia’s War in Ukraine

Eradication of Ukrainian identity, disinformation and destruction of cultural heritage

Stockholm Free World Forum, together with Nordic Ukraine Forum, is hosting a seminar on the pressing issue of Russia’s War in Ukraine and the long-term effects of the war on Ukrainian identity, disinformation and cultural heritage.

War means loss in multiple terms. In this seminar we wish to highlight the importance of discussing the consequences of the war in Ukraine in a broad sense as well as directly for the individuals affected.

Since the onset of the war, Russia has deported Ukrainian children. The use of deportation as a tool of warfare is not new, however it is together with other measures, such as disinformation, a method to try to eradicate or manipulate memory and cultural identity.

What are the immediate as well as long term consequences of deportations, disinformation and destruction of cultural heritage? How can neighboring countries in Europe, and the world at large, successfully tackle these issues and continue to give Ukraine the necessary support needed?

To discuss this, we have the pleasure of welcoming distinguished speakers and experts sharing unique insights and experience.

Simonas Kairys. Minister of Culture of Lithuania.

Andrij Plachotnjuk. Ukraine’s ambassador in Sweden.

Dmytro Raiskyi. Advocacy Manager, PR Army.

Linda Jerneck. Editorial writer, Expressen.

Magnus Berntsson. Member of Parliament, Christian Democrats.

The seminar will be moderated by Anna Rennéus Guthrie, Director Stockholm Free World Forum.
